Biography

Anne Carina is a contemporary artist living in Berlin. She grew up in northern Germany and spent her childhood and youth between the seas - the Baltic and North Sea. From an early age she could almost always be found with a pencil or paintbrush in her hand — art has always been a part of her life.

During her journey as an artist, Anne Carina has experimented with various materials including charcoal and pencil drawings, oil paintings, collages, and watercolors, and explored different motifs such as landscapes, portraits, animals, and flowers.

She attended painting and drawing classes with the portrait and landscape painter Jan Helbig and eventually studied at the University of the Arts. However, Anne Carina chose not to pursue painting as her main profession so that she could continue to find freedom and balance in painting.

While it has always been in her heart, painting took a backseat to family and career over the last seven years. In 2023 Anne Carina was inspired to revisit her passion for painting, and she is now an artist in her free time. One of these inspirations was the following quote:

„You can’t use up creativity. The more you use it, the more you have.”

–Maya Angelou

For many years Anne Carina painted mainly landscapes and the sea. These paintings are windows to places of longing and memories. She only recently delved into abstract painting and was amazed to discover how different the creative process is. It’s more random. It’s more reflective. Painting an abstract takes time and an eye that looks again and again, pauses, wonders, and reflects on what the painting needs to fly as well as the courage to change.

In her abstract works, Anne Carina is concerned with the relationship between colors, about demarcation and connections, about dominance and balance. The images exude positive energy and liveliness. They invite the eye to discover. And above all, they are balanced.
